This easy-to-make Egg Chop recipe is perfect for busy parents and professionals looking for a quick snack idea. It also doubles as a fun project to involve children, teaching them life skills and building family connections. For students, it’s a great way to explore cooking as a practical, enjoyable hobby.
Egg Chop
Ingredients:
• 4
hard-boiled eggs (peeled)
• 2
medium potatoes (boiled and mashed)
• 1
small onion (finely chopped)
• ½
teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
• ½
teaspoon coriander powder
• Salt
to taste
• ½
cup breadcrumbs
• ¼
cup flour (for coating)
• Water
as needed
• Oil
for frying
Instructions:
1. In
a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, chopped onion, ginger-garlic paste,
coriander powder, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
2. Cut
each boiled egg in half, making 8 halves in total.
3. Take
a portion of the potato mixture and flatten it in your hand. Place one egg half
in the centre and gently wrap the potato mixture around it until the egg is
fully covered. Repeat this for all egg halves.
4. In
a small bowl, mix flour with a bit of water to make a smooth paste.
5. Dip
each potato-covered egg chop in the flour paste, then roll it in breadcrumbs to
coat evenly. This helps make them crispy when fried.
6. Heat
oil in a pan over medium heat. Gently place each egg chop in the hot oil and
fry until golden brown on all sides.
7. Remove
and place on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
8. Serve
the egg chops hot with ketchup, chutney, or your favourite dip.
For your safety, never attempt to cook
without the supervision of a responsible adult.
